About Us and Our Vision

Team Haverhill is an independent, volunteer action group dedicated to making Haverhill a better place to live, learn, work and play. We pursue this purpose by fostering civic dialogue, organizing hands-on projects, creating a more informed public, and advocating for positive change.

One example of a Team Haverhill vision that elicited broad public interest and discussion was the proposed recreational loop along both sides of the river. Since the drawings were unveiled early in 2006, this idea has stayed alive in public discussion. The loop idea was a key focus of the professionally-led Urban River Visions II community planning project (a state supported process for which Team Haverhill had helped secure grant funding.) At the end of 2008, the City purchased the land on the Bradford side of the river between the bridges with state funding; and in 2009 a new section of boardwalk was unveiled downtown. While it will take many years for Haverhill to complete the recreational loop, we would never have come this far on the project without community vision, enthusiasm and support that Team Haverhill helped to generate.

Other examples of “Vision into Action” include:

  • Downtown murals and walking tour map
  • Soles of Haverhill “Shoe-la-bration”
  • Playground renovations
  • Single-stream recycling pilot project
  • Launch of a revitalized Farmers’ Market
  • Establishment of the new Mentoring Network

Team Haverhill launches new web site

Team Haverhill has launched a new Web site, www.teamhaverhill.org.

"The last few months have been an extremely exciting and busy time for Team Haverhill," said co-chariman Tim Jordan.

"We have been very active with several projects — the Soles of Haverhill Shoe-la-bration in partnership with the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce; the launch of the single-stream recycling pilot in partnership with the City of Haverhill and the beginning of a citywide mentoring program."

The new mentoring network includes the Haverhill Public Schools and four youth-serving agencies: the YMCA, YWCA, Girls Inc. and the Haverhill Boys and Girls Club.¬

"It is appropriate to share with the Greater Haverhill community our new Web site address, www.teamhaverhill.org, which is more reflective of the nature of our organization," Jordan said.

Team Haverhill is a volunteer organization comprised of residents and business owners in Haverhill; members are committed to making Haverhill a better place to live, work and play.

Team Haverhill generally meets at the Pentucket Bank Community Room the second Monday of every month, but the schedule is always available on the Web site.¬

All meetings are open to the public.

Jordan said Team Haverhill hopes everyone will visit the new site, which he described as more user-friendly. There, people can learn about "all the exciting projects on which we are working," Jordan said.

Anyone interested in joining a working group or becoming a member is encouraged to attend a meeting. Those who are curious about the organization's meetings are also invited to attend. STORY...
