Preliminary Report from Possible Dreams 2012 - “Bridge to Bridge and Beyond." Team Haverhill will issue a series of reports on the January 30 “Possible Dreams” meeting. A great deal of material—especially from the tabletop worksheets—remains to be collated and summarized. Comments are also continuing to flow in regarding ideas discussed at the tables, and ideas are still percolating in people’s minds. It will also take a few months to see which ideas have “legs”—that is, which proposals are championed by energetic leaders and volunteers, people who prepared to follow through to make something happen in the near term. However, here is our initial report, containing key ideas that the participants offered in the last hour of the meeting, when they reflected on their three rounds of table conversation. The material is organized into five “big messages.” click HERE for our initial report

.....MESSAGE #1: Link up two big Haverhill assets—“culture” and “agriculture.”

.....MESSAGE #2: Create new downtown venues for arts, culture and recreation.

.....MESSAGE #3: Work on “curb appeal”—make this area attractive, clean, unified and connected

.....MESSAGE #4: Make it family-friendly

.....MESSAGE #5: Create a unified marketing plan, communicating a coherent identity for Haverhill’s .....“Bridge to Bridge” area.

Specific participant comments from this final segment of the meeting are listed at the end of the preliminary report. To see a growing list ideas that have been sent to us since the meeting, click HERE.

Team Haverhill is an independent, volunteer action group dedicated to making Haverhill a better place to live, learn, work and play. We pursue this purpose by fostering civic dialogue, organizing hands-on projects, creating a more informed public, and advocating for positive change.

  • Organizing hand-on projects: To see what’s happening now, click on the “Projects” button to the left.
  • Fostering civic dialogue: Our annual “Possible Dreams” event in January provides a setting for community-building and positive conversation about the life of our city.
  • Creating a more informed public: We conduct research and publish information about selected issues, such as recycling.
  • Advocating for positive change: Team Haverhill occasionally takes a position on an important issue and shares that viewpoint with the public.
