The Essex Gateway Mural
Don't miss the opportunity to become a part of Haverhill's newest and largest scale public artwork - The Essex Gateway Mural on the wall of 25 Essex Street. The mural goes on the wall in May 2012, and our Auction Gala is on May 19.

 Other Public Art

Twenty-five other downtown murals have been installed to date, including six that were created in partnership with the Discovery Club after-school program. A full map is available for a self-guided walking tour. In 2010, Team Haverhill commissioned a sculpture by Dale Rogers called “The River Path,” located in Washington Square.

In 2009, Soles of Haverhill "Shoe-la-bration" was a community-wide public art festival involving fourteen giant sculptures in the form of a high-button shoe, each embellished by a different artist. The festival was launched with an unveiling at the city’s July 5th, 2009 Fireworks celebration, after which shoe were placed at multiple locations around Haverhill. After Labor Day, the shoes will be displayed in downtown locations, then auctioned off at a gala event at Buttonwoods Museum on October 24, 2009.

River Ruckus
Haverhill River Ruckus is a full day of free entertainment, fun and celebration, highlighting the Merrimac River and the revitalized downtown historic district, the new boardwalk, and the on-going development of recreational resources and river access planned for the area.

Expanded Curbside Recycling
The goal of city-wide, curbside, single-stream recycling was fulfilled as of July 5, 2010, after two and a half years of steady effort on the part Team Haverhill’s Recycling Committee, in collaboration with Mayor Fiorentini, numerous other city and state officials, and volunteer groups like Haverhill Environmental League. Haverhill City Council played an important role of education and support. Hats off to everyone who helped make this happen.

Candidate Forums
Team Haverhill successfully served as co-sponsor for Mayoral Forums in both 2007 and 2009, designed to help the public consider key issues as they prepared to vote for Mayor and City Councilors.

Playground Project
We hope to continue our work in the future to improve playgrounds and recreation areas, so that our city offers a safe and friendly environment for families and children.
