RIVER RUCKUS 2011 - Program Highlights

Saturday, August 20, 2011 in downtown Haverhill, MA, 11:30 am to 10 pm. (Rain date August 21)

Event Locations: Downtown Haverhill, MA, in several contiguous areas:

  • Washington Street
  • Wingate Street
  • Washington Square (near the downtown Post Office)
  • Columbus Park (across from the Haverhill commuter rail stop)
  • “Boardwalk” Area along the downtown riverfront, behind 60 Washington Street—includes the main stage, display area, food vending, and seating.

Daytime Highlights:

  • Classic Car Parade and Show, plus Windham Swing Band and street performers on Washington Street. (11:30 am - 3:00 pm, on Washington Street.)
  • Children’s Activities including Face Painting, Lil Iguanas “Safety” Character Booth, All Hands Drumming (12 noon – 4pm in Columbus Park)
  • Artisan’s Market with accompanying entertainment and food booths (11 am to 5 pm on Wingate Street and Washington Square)
  • Pontoon Boat Rides (Noon to 7 pm from city dock near Main Stage area)
  • River-Oriented Educational Presentations about our endangered Sturgeon, Recycling, Bradford Rail Trail, Clean River Project, Boat Exhibits (11:30 am – 6 pm, “Boardwalk” Area)
  • Community Mural Painting Session plus art display, and continuous video presentations about past Team Haverhill events and projects (All day, 90 Washington Street )
  • Documentary Film about the Haverhill Flood of 1936 (2 pm and 4 pm at Phoenix Row housing complex, behind downtown Post Office in Washington Sq)
  • Decorated-Trolley Transportation to all venues and parking areas (All day)  

Evening Highlights:

  • Special Guest Appearance by Haverhill native and worldwide crooner sensation Brian Evans ..............(6 to 6:30 pm, main stage, “Boardwalk” Area)
  • USAF “Band of Liberty Jazz Band” Concert (7:30 to 9 pm, main stage)
  • Fireworks Finale (9 pm, along the river behind the main stage)
